Michael Jackson died, and I’m pretty much okay with it
Death of a legend, it’s happens; frankly it has to. What’s more arresting than the actual expiration of The Gloved One is the fact that for an instant, our world stopped, dead in rotation. All roads, most leading nowhere on the information superhighway, were gridlocked. This, my good friends, is some serious news. Or, is it?
These days it’s not exactly uncommon, and MJ is dead proof, for celebrity to overcome creativity. I wonder…what does it feel like to live in the shadow of your former self, what does that do to a person over time?
In the case of Mr. Michael Jackson, what he was, at one time, was great. That would be before the chimp toting, carnival constructing, pajama party throwing, court case avoiding, figure transforming…I suppose those sorts of things are more or less absolved after death…
Yet the funny thing about after, is that there is always a before. Sure, you can consider things after, but would it not be more useful to consider the after, beforehand? Design, lets look at this tragedy as an opportunity, a learning experience if you will; lets consider the future in front of us beforehand. After all, we’re responsible for a lot more than laying down a few tracks…
MJ R.I.P.
