Karl Lagerfeld, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways…seems silver is the new black, according to fashion demi-god, Mr. Karl Lagerfeld. Chanel’s Spring 2010 Couture Collection dropped yesterday without a single LBD; gasp! As shocking as it seems given Coco Chanel invented the little black dress nearly a century ago, I absolutely love it. Reinterpreting the past does not, nor did it ever mean reproducing it. Too often we see design paraphrasing itself; there is a fine line between what’s similar and what’s the same. This is the first time in Lagerfeld’s career he’s done a collection void of black, opting instead for pastels, molten silver and whipped creams. The dawn of a new era…doubtful, but certainly possible…
