APDF Exchange: A meeting of minds

In less than 30 minutes my new APDF pals solved every PR dilemma I currently have. Okay so the solving part might require a bit more work on my end, but the statement is generally solid, solid gold in fact.

Teague is a longtime ADPF member, but this is the first time I’ve been lucky enough to join the dialog, and may I just say, wowza!

I made my way downtown last Friday where communications strategy firm Methodologie was hosting the forum. A bomb threat at the courthouse held a few members up, giving me a bit of time to poke around Methodologie’s office. It is, in a word, perfection. Yes, I’m typing this as I sit at my desk overlooking the mesmeric Puget Sound, but as we all know—the grass is always greener—and they’ve got a private garden oasis and an incredible rug in their lobby! I blame this momentary jealousy on rug lust, pure and simple (if anyone at Methodologie happens to be reading, please tell me where you found that gem of a shag).

I think I’m over it, so back to the forum…in a nutshell APDF members from Carbon Design Group, phinneybishoff, Artefact, Methodologie, Synapse, Garrigan Lyman, Dossier Creative and beyond joined forces to confront the big hairy challenges facing the business of design; and that they did. But the regional forums are really just the beginning—those big hairy challenges will make a second appearance at a much larger event in May,  the APDF’s Annual Exchange Meeting.

APDF members will converge in NYC for the 2-day event, May 14-15, featuring industry heavy-weights such as Stephan Sagmeister, Michael Jagger, Helen Walters, David Dunne, Tucker Viemister, Linda Tischler and our very own John Barratt, among many, many others.

If you haven’t signed up already, this is your chance to get up close and personal with people that are actually changing the world for the better—and that friends, as Walter Dorwin Teague might say, is the job of design.

Not an APDF member, now’s the time to join.
