I’d like the Teenwolf please, with a side of fries

Right now I’m sandwiched between Teenwolf and a gal that literally makes french fries for a living. Oddly, I’m completely at ease. I’m even a little curious. What really goes into making a french fry? How many fries can you cut in an hour? What type of potato is the gold fry standard?…

But I’m not here for the fries. Today I’m in training; I’m here to learn what it takes to communicate with a lil diplomacy and a whole lot o’ tact.

We’re halfway through and I’ve made a significant observation—everyone here, Teenwolf and myself included, needs to take a step back from a pure performance-based mentality. I know how it is, when you’re driven to meet deadlines and exceed expectations. I know what it’s like to feel that working really hard isn’t working hard enough. Over time you get a little grumpy and sometimes, every once in a while, even when you really wish it wouldn’t, that grumpiness spills over. In this training session we’re taking grumpy on, mono y mono.

I’m not sure what the end result of the session will be, what key take aways I’ll stash in my back pocket—-but at hour 11 I can tell you this: Regardless of what you do, whether you make fries or run the free world, business and life for that matter is about people. And whether you’re willing to admit it or not, on the way to the copy machine you absolutely do have time to stop and say hello.
